Description
Students will be fascinated by the unique and unusual features of this engaging production, shot in many locations around the world. The program first delineates a common structural element of cultures - groups - and then shows how and why they may differ from one culture to another. It then explains that all cultures have different methods of expressing ideas and emotions - through language and various creative and performing arts. Students also see how peoples from around the world meet their basic materials needs for food, shelter, and clothing, as well as their emotional needs. Governmental institutions are explained, as are the religious and philosophical underpinnings of cultures. Technologies and their importance in a society's economic and material development are also explained. Throughout the presentation, reasons for cultural differences are explored and illuminated.
